Kathmandu, September 7, 2025 – A faction of the Nepali Congress is set to hold a protest at the party’s central office in Sanepa on Monday, September 8, at 10:00 AM. The demonstration comes amid internal disputes over the timing of the party’s 15th General Convention.

Party president Sher Bahadur Deuba and his allies favor postponing the convention until after the 2027 general elections, while leaders like Shekhar Koirala and Gagan Thapa insist on holding it as scheduled to ensure leadership renewal and internal democracy.

The protesting faction is demanding that the convention proceed on time, citing concerns over prolonged ad hoc committees and the need for organizational transparency.

Participants are advised to follow updates on the protest schedule and take precautions as weather forecasts predict cloudy and humid conditions with possible showers in Kathmandu.
